What causes the high temperature of the screw air compressor?
I. Cooling System The factors that can be considered for the cooling system include environmental conditions, indoor ventilation, blockage of the cooler, insufficient cooling water or cooling air volume, etc.
1. Environmental factors and indoor ventilation conditions. As the equipment operates, it generates a large amount of heat. If this heat is not promptly discharged outdoors, it may cause a closed circulation of air inside the room. That is, the heat discharged by the air compressor's heat exchange will be re吸入 by the air compressor's intake port, resulting in a vicious cycle. The equipment will remain at a high temperature. Based on the ventilation status of the designated area, if the ambient temperature exceeds 40℃, it is necessary to implement forced ventilation.
Precautions for indoor ventilation:
▶ The positions of the intake and exhaust vents should be chosen as follows: The intake vent should be placed at the lower part of the building, preferably in a location that does not easily suck in environmental dust and harmful gases. In harsh environments with a lot of dust, appropriate intake vent filtering devices should be equipped. The exhaust vent is usually placed on the roof or above the walls, and protective facilities should be added.
▶Exhaust Air Passage
a. The cross-sectional area of the exhaust duct should be large enough.
b. The exhaust duct should be as short as possible to reduce the flow resistance. Based on the exhaust volume of the compressor, calculate the resistance of the exhaust duct. If the pressure loss exceeds 20 Pa, an auxiliary exhaust fan needs to be installed.
c. To facilitate maintenance, a detachable structure is adopted for the exhaust duct. Canvas or galvanized sheet metal can be used as connection and balancing wind covers to avoid excessive proximity and vibration transmission. Adjustable louvers can be installed to close the duct during winter to prevent excessively low temperatures.

2. The cooler is clogged. The cooler has components such as air-cooled plate-fin heat exchangers and water-cooled shell-and-tube heat exchangers. Over time, due to environmental factors or the quality of the cooling water, the cooler may become clogged. This can be confirmed by the temperature difference between the inlet and outlet of the cooler. The plate-fin heat exchanger is composed of a series of rectangular plates and heat exchange tubes. For the clogging of the air-cooled heat exchanger, repeated blowing with compressed air above 0.2 MPa can be used. In severe cases, the entire unit can be disassembled for cleaning. For the water-cooled shell-and-tube heat exchanger, it consists of an external shell and an internal cooler. Due to the different fluids flowing through the tube and shell sections in different manufacturers' equipment and the different cooling water qualities used on site, the clogging of the tube-and-shell heat exchanger requires cyclic cleaning with different chemical agents.
3. Insufficient cooling water and cooling air volume
▶The cooling air volume is insufficient. Check whether the temperature settings for starting and stopping the fan on the control panel are reasonable, and whether the cooling fans are operating properly or have malfunctioned; the dust-proof filter at the intake should be cleaned regularly to prevent blockage; in addition, the design and installation of the exhaust channel are unreasonable, with either too small exhaust volume or high resistance in the channel, which will affect the air volume of the equipment and cause the exhaust temperature of the air compressor to rise.
▶ Insufficient cooling water volume. Check the temperature of the cooling water. A higher water temperature leads to a decrease in the temperature difference between the cooling water and the lubricating oil, thereby reducing the heat exchange efficiency. Additionally, insufficient cooling water volume means that the heat from the high-temperature lubricating oil cannot be promptly cooled by the circulating cooling water, resulting in an increasing temperature. Generally, the return water pressure of the cooling water should be no less than 0.15 MPa.
